Due to maternity leave as well as increased interest in the Mainstream School buy-in service, NELFT North East London Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists to join NELFT North East London Foundation Trust's well-established service in Redbridge, part of the North East London Foundation Trust. This is a fixed-term position for a year, with every possibility of becoming permanent.
Working as part of this team, you will provide a service for children presenting with a range of speech, language, and communication difficulties within either mainstream schools or the Early Intervention clinic. There will be opportunities to work at universal, targeted, and specialist levels, including the delivery of direct intervention. In NELFT North East London Foundation Trust's clinic and schools buy-in service, NELFT North East London Foundation Trust only work with children without EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), allowing therapists greater independence and flexibility to manage and prioritize caseloads based on clinical need.
Main Duties of the Job
The main responsibilities of the post include:
- Contributing to the provision of speech and language therapy clinical care pathways across Redbridge
- Delivering comprehensive formal and informal assessments, and making differential diagnoses based on these assessments
- Developing evidence-based intervention programs, adapting, and facilitating therapy and the use of augmentative communication systems according to client-centered needs
- Working closely with clients, carers, families, and school staff to embed inclusive speech, language, and communication practices both at home and within the classroom
- Contributing to both uni and multi-disciplinary team working to ensure coordinated service provision
- Attending relevant training courses, meetings, and special interest groups to maintain skills and knowledge required of a Speech and Language Therapist in the field of paediatrics.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training, and equipment allocation. New starters will have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend drop-in sessions focused on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at NELFT North East London Foundation Trust's head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period unless currently partway through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff.
High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735) pro rata for part-time staff.

- A recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent and relevant professional registration
