Overview

National Trust’re looking for a Head of Content Marketing and Innovation to join the Innovation & Digital team for a 12-month fixed term starting in December 2024 or January 2025. This fixed term contract is due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point, National Trust cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months.

National Trust’re at an exciting point of developing National Trust's Content Marketing team, having recently expanded significantly to make a step-change in how National Trust design web content to meet National Trust's audience’s needs. National Trust’re also well on National Trust's way to having an established and effective digital innovation function, testing and learning with new audience-focused digital initiatives. National Trust’re moving into the embedding phase of this work with established approaches and ways of working.

Your contractual location will be National Trust's head office in Swindon, and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing: You’ll lead both National Trust's Content Marketing Team and Innovation Team with up to 5 direct reports and a team of 18. You’ll be leading the strategic direction for Content Marketing and Innovation, acting as a senior advocate for both disciplines.

  • Your team is responsible for the national website content and supporting National Trust's regional and property teams through National Trust's devolved publishing model.
  • You’ll be working with a wide range of stakeholders both within the Communications and Marketing directorate and widely across the organisation.
  • As a core part of the Innovation and Digital Leadership Team, you’ll work closely with the Head of Digital Products to shape the development of new ways to deliver relevant and effective web content to National Trust's audiences.
  • You’ll be one of the key people shaping how innovation at the Trust is embedded across not only digital but the wider organisation in a consistent way.
