Job Role:
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a highly motivated Advanced Biomedical Scientist with experience operating as a Biomedical Scientist in Histopathology, in line with ISO 15189 standards. This role involves providing scientific services to customers and patients to aid pathological diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Lead Biomedical Scientist and Cellular Pathology Directorate Manager to ensure efficient planning and daily operations of the department.
- Support the Lead Biomedical Scientist in providing leadership and guidance to Biomedical Scientists and support teams.
- Provide complex and specialist advice to Histopathology teams.
- Review and enhance the department’s effectiveness and efficiency, implementing innovative improvements as needed.
- Prepare tissue for the North West Genomics Laboratory Hub to facilitate DNA-/RNA- NGS panel analysis.
- Perform immunohistochemistry and assess neoplastic cell content on tumour tissues prior to Genomics testing.
- Ensure the highest scientific standards are maintained within the department.
Qualifications and Experience:
- HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with extensive post-registration Histopathology experience.
- Possession of an IBMS specialist portfolio in Cellular Pathology and MSc level or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems and ISO15189 standards is essential.
