Overview

The Role:

As an Apprentice Teaching Assistant within the EYFS setting, you will work towards gaining a Level 3 Qualification. This role involves various responsibilities aimed at supporting children's development and learning.

Pay:

Hourly Rate: £6.40 (current apprenticeship wage), raising to national minimum wage after 12 months.

Duration:

This apprenticeship lasts between 18 to 21 months, during which you will obtain your qualification.

Hours per Week:

You'll work 36 hours over 5 days, from Monday to Friday, during term time only (38 weeks per year). Working hours will be agreed upon, with variations between 7:30 am and 5:15 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support staff in caring for children in line with the setting's policies and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
  • Adhere to safeguarding practices according to the setting's policy.
  • Ensure the health and safety of the children at all times.
  • Provide stimulating activities to encourage children's development and learning.
  • Develop skills and practices associated with being a teaching assistant, particularly in the EYFS context.
  • Work alongside Total People to gain relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications.

Entry Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of child development, safeguarding, health & safety, and the EYFS framework.
  • Initial assessment in English and Maths at Level 1 (minimum).
  • Must be in secure employment actively working in a key person role.
  • Access to IT and the internet is required for online learning and assignments.

Future Prospects:

Potential to be employed as a Level 3 (Level 2) Practitioner with opportunities for full-time employment for the right candidate.

Qualifications Required:

  • A Level 2 Qualification in childcare is desirable.
  • GCSE in Math and English is also desirable, but training can be provided.

Skills Required:

  • Good communication skills and teamwork abilities.
