Manpower UK Limited is currently seeking an interim Building Maintenance Supervisor to work with Manpower UK Limited's global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
This position is based in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral, easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £37,000 plus a 15% flex allowance (totalling £42,550) per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience. The salary includes the requirement to work occasional bank holidays/weekends as required.
Main Job Purpose
Provide maintenance and reactive support for site facilities, equipment, and systems, including contractor control relating to the building infrastructure across a large manufacturing complex. Contribute towards ensuring compliance with planned statutory and maintenance activities, including contractor control. Drive improved performance for cost, service, and quality for the above. Implement and manage site infrastructure projects relating to building infrastructure. This role reports to the Site Services and Sustainability Manager and has supporting links with the Engineering department, operations, quality, H&S, project team, and external contractors.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide strong maintenance support to improve safety, people, cost, and service.
- Drive improvements in maintenance performance and cost reduction through identification and implementation of best practice techniques and application of root cause analysis to develop long-term solutions to chronic downtime issues.
- Support and, in some cases, lead improvement projects through the change management process, from minor changes to CAPEX justification and commissioning.
- Utilize strong technical expertise to prioritize multiple tasks using initiative to sustain high reliability of all equipment and systems.
- Deliver best practice contractor management and permit to work while ensuring contractors provide a quality-driven service that offers value for money.
- Identify, source, and ensure availability of maintenance spares and contracted activities.
- Provide ownership and support for engineering shutdowns and start-ups.
- Establish communication with key stakeholders to ensure all works meet the requirements of environmental, health, and safety, and business needs.
- Support the site in uploading the department maintenance database into the IT-based maintenance planning system (Build app).
- React to safety tags entered into the build app to ensure a timely resolution to issues identified across the site.
- Responsible for all civil-related infrastructure on the site, including building fabric/construction, roofs, floors, ceilings, drainage, doors, windows, coatings, gutters, cladding, internal rainwater gutters, plumbing, internal fittings and fixtures, roads, footpaths, and fire compartmentation.
Experience Required
Essential:
- Previous experience in a building maintenance/facilitator role (preferred civil engineering background).
- Previous experience managing contractors via permit to work (minimum 3 years).
- Previous experience in managing multidisciplinary projects (minimum 3 years).
- Extensive knowledge of CDM regulations, asbestos management, working at height, excavation, and demolition.
- Ability to communicate and manage key stakeholders.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have the following:
- IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH.
- City and Guilds Level 3 in a civil discipline.
- Project management training.
- Permit to work training.
- Asbestos management.
- Experience with excavation and demolition.
