Role Overview

As a Business Support Officer, you will learn about the service the team provides and how it makes a difference to people’s lives. Within this role, you can make a real difference by being well-organized, able to think strategically, and possessing the ability to lead a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the day-to-day administration of the Adoption Support service, particularly the Keeping In Touch and Adopted Adult processes.
  • Work closely with the Adoption Support Service Manager and Keeping In Touch Manager to ensure the service runs effectively.
  • Line manage and supervise the ASE Keeping In Touch and Adopted Adult Administration Team.
  • Oversee local data systems to ensure they are complete and accurate.
  • Provide prompt, accurate, and easy-to-use local information about the Keeping in Touch service as required to managers and Business Support colleagues.
  • Oversee central communication processes such as central inboxes and data management systems.
  • Operate financial administration and procurement processes as required.
  • Attend and contribute to local and regional meetings.
  • Support and deliver on projects to support initiatives within the team.

Candidate Profile

East Sussex County Council is looking for candidates who:

  • Can supervise a small Business Support Team.
  • Can effectively organize their own and their team's workload and meet deadlines.
  • Can design, develop, and implement effective administrative systems to meet the changing needs of the service.
  • Are able to communicate effectively with key stakeholders such as service providers and families.
  • Can deal with challenging and distressed clients.
  • Can exercise discretion in dealing with sensitive information to maintain strict confidentiality where appropriate.
  • Can work as part of a small team but also engage and collaborate with other staff from across the agency.
