Care and Support Worker Level 3

Overview

A consultation is currently taking place on merging Tregerddan Residential Home with Hafan y Waun Residential Home, Waun Fawr. If the merger is approved, this job will transfer to Hafan y Waun at an agreed point.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and associated regulations as a Care and Support Worker (Level 3).
• Act as the responsible officer in the absence of the Manager/Deputy Manager.
• Administer prescribed medication, including controlled drugs, and manage an effective system for the safe control and administration of medication.
• Conduct assessments of service users, particularly those with complex or high needs.
• Develop and implement specific programs of direct and virtual work with individuals and groups.
• Facilitate learning and skills-based training with regular competency checks for staff.
• Ensure adherence to safe working systems regarding RIDDOR, COSHH, manual handling, first aid, and medication.
• Respond to emergencies appropriately.
• Maintain good communication and effective relationships with service users.
• Identify and manage risks to ensure service user safety.
• Deliver interventions that support individuals' mental, social, and physical wellbeing.
• Work in partnership with individuals, families, and other agencies.
• Undertake personal care as outlined in care plans.
• Provide witness statements for legal proceedings when necessary.
• Maintain up-to-date recording systems to document work.
• Work a rolling rota of days or nights, with potential for staff to cover shifts as needed.
• Support the evaluation of service user satisfaction and contribute to Quality Assurance monitoring.
• Supervise and lead the team while on shift, providing clear guidance to staff.

Quality Assurance

Support the evaluation of the service user’s satisfaction and report complaints and compliments to the Management Team.
