Overview

Manpower UK Print & Packaging Division is excited to be recruiting for Converting Operatives based on Manpower UK Limited's clients' Sunderland site. This full-time permanent opportunity is working for one of Manpower UK Limited's prestigious partners, a market-leading, global packaging business.

Job Overview

Previous exposure in the print or packaging industry would be advantageous, however, full training will be given. A technical aptitude is sufficient for this role.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary role of a Converting Operative includes the competent and efficient operation of machinery in the Converting department, including Lamination, Slitting, and Bagging, to produce goods as required in line with the production plan.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Report any limiting factors to the conversion manager and shift supervisor, recording details on the daily production log.
  • Operate the Converting machinery (slitter, laminator).
  • Perform manual handling and manoeuvring of reels using lifting and handling equipment; load parent reels onto the unwind unit and unload finished goods from the rewind section.
  • Monitor work in progress reels throughout production for flagged material, removing affected material and re-splicing in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Conduct frequent and thorough monitoring during production, ensuring all required checks (glue weights, slitting tolerances) are carried out to maintain high quality standards.
  • Quarantine suspect or poor quality products and complete appropriate paperwork.
  • Conduct weekly machine safety checks and record outcomes on relevant documentation.
  • Perform weekly cleaning and inspection checks.
  • Accurately input production data into the workstation PC, ensuring all shift time is accounted for using appropriate waste and downtime codes.
  • Comply with line clearance procedures during job changeovers.
  • Record relevant information and maintain traceability throughout the process with accurate completion of paperwork and labels.

Work Schedule

You will be expected to commit to a continental shift pattern, working 4 days on, 4 days off, with shifts from 6am to 6pm and 6pm to 6am.
