Overview

The East Sussex Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding (DoLS) team is looking for a registered professional to join its team of Best Interest Assessors (BIA). This role is essential for ensuring that the rights of individuals are upheld while they are under care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments on a case load basis in a timely and articulate manner.
  • Summarize a wide range of evidence to clearly demonstrate how best interest decisions are made regarding deprivation of liberty.
  • Engage in reflective practice and regular supervision sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Participate in educating others about best interest work alongside DoLS assessment tasks.

Work Pattern and Hours

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate must possess:

  • Professional qualification and current registration as a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Nurse, or Psychologist.
  • Qualified Best Interest Assessor status.
  • Strong assessment and interviewing skills.
  • Ability to liaise and advocate effectively with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Experience in safeguarding practices.
  • Capacity to construct and present written reports within designated timescales.
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Creative problem-solving skills in working with adults.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Candidates who have lived or worked abroad may need to provide evidence of an overseas police check.
