Overview

Staffordshire County Council have an exciting opportunity that has arisen within The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) Team.

The team’s Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards responsibilities are centred around ensuring that vulnerable adults, who lack capacity to consent but need to be accommodated under care and treatment regimes that may have the effect of depriving them of their liberty, have their best interests protected in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice.

Main Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in the processing of DOLS referrals, ensuring statutory timescales are met and are in line with DOLS Code of Practice.
  • Communicate with providers, assessors, and members of the public.

This role will suit someone who is a strong team player and who wants to provide an excellent service for Staffordshire’s service users.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of working in an administrative function and using a computer-based information system and Microsoft Office packages.
  • Experience of working with internal and external customers to provide a high-quality service.
  • Attention to detail is key, and you will have the ability to pick up new systems or processes quickly in this fast-paced role.
  • Previous knowledge of DOLS would be an advantage but not essential as training and support will be provided.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and work to tight deadlines.
