Overview

Newport Pagnell Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join the practice to support and assist the community matron, ICST and GP and practice nurse team in the service delivery and management of patients registered across our three sites. This role will provide planned health and social care as appropriate to the skills of the HCA, supporting patients and their families in their own homes or other settings, as appropriate. 

The role is full time, working 37.5 hours per week. 
 
The role covers both clinical and administrative duties and responsibilities, details of which are included in the attached job description.
 
The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
About the Candidate
If you are an experienced healthcare assistant looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will ideally have the following skills and qualifications:
  • A qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture
  • Successful completion of the care certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent
  • Experience of working within a GP practice
 
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Strong clinical skills;
  • Confidence and competence in all HCA duties required for the post;
  • Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting;
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues;
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
