Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS)
Norfolk SENDIASS provides confidential and impartial information, advice and support about special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) for children, young people, parents, and carers, empowering them to play an active role in issues relating to their education and care.
The service promotes active participation of children and young people with SEND and their parents/carers in matters concerning SEN and disability, working closely with education settings to ensure that SEN support is in place.
Norfolk County Council is looking to employ a Helpline Advisor for 22.2 hours per week on a fixed-term contract for two years. This role is crucial for communicating complex SEND legislation and ensuring parents are informed of their rights.
- Passionate about enabling parents/carers to self-advocate on matters relating to SEN and Disability.
- Skilled in explaining complex SEND legislation.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of maintaining clear and professional boundaries.
You will empower and advise parents/carers, helping secure positive outcomes for families through direct communication via Norfolk County Council's helpline. The role includes home-based and office work, necessitating data inputting and record-keeping.
