HGV Road Sweeper Driver

Overview

Location: Ketteringham Depot, Hethersett Norwich, Norfolk NR9 3AZ

Salary Range: Starting salary of £26,244 - £29,576 per annum, 37 hours per week, 4 days per week (Tuesday to Friday).

Hourly Rate: £13.60 (pay rise pending).

Job Summary: The Operations team is responsible for delivering a high-quality local environment to residents and businesses. This role supports the delivery of highway cleansing services by driving a heavy goods vehicle road sweeper, ensuring excellent customer service and safety standards are maintained.

Responsibilities:

• Drive a large road sweeper within the South Norfolk Council district area.
• Conduct highway cleansing services autonomously and utilize judgment to alleviate known problem areas.
• Plan workload, factoring in transit time to waste disposal locations.
• Work as part of a team to deliver services to a high standard.
• Meet health and safety standards and ensure no impact on the general public.
• Conduct vehicle checks and report any faults immediately.
• Operate a left-hand drive vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Mechanically sweep streets according to scheduled routes.
• Complete relevant paperwork and administration required by the Council.
• Support the wider team by driving other vehicles as needed.
• Work flexible hours, including early mornings, late afternoons, and some weekends when required.

Requirements:

• Full Cat C HGV licence and current CPC.
• Ability to undertake repetitive manual lifting and moving tasks.
• Demonstrable experience of driving an HGV regularly, preferably in a similar role.
• Knowledge of health and safety and operational requirements.
• Ability to assess local road conditions to minimize traffic disruption.
