Overview

The Leaving Care service works with care leavers from the age of 16. An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Leaving Care Service in Nottinghamshire County Council's South team based at Arnold as a part-time worker, potentially 2.5 or 3 days a week.

You will support children and young people across Nottinghamshire and some who reside outside the county. A hybrid work model is implemented, allowing for both office and home working, with smarter working encouraged by Nottinghamshire County Council.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional and practical support for young people transitioning from care.
  • Assist with housing issues, managing finances, health, and life skills.
  • Work flexibly and creatively with a diverse group of young people.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete pathway plans.
  • Advocate with other agencies and coordinate multi-agency support.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Recent experience of direct work with young people, ideally care leavers.
  • Strong knowledge of the local authority's statutory functions regarding care leavers.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with young people.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and respond effectively to crises.
