Overview

The core purpose of the National Trust – to protect and care for places so that people and nature can thrive – depends on National Trust's crucial fundraising work. National Trust’re looking for a Philanthropy Consultant to join National Trust in London and South East, to help shape and achieve National Trust's ambitious vision for fundraising.

Role Overview

This role can be full or part time.

Interviews will be online the week beginning the 4th Nov 2024.

Working Environment

You’ll be part of the Trust’s internal consultancy: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors, and project managers, you’ll work collaboratively to achieve goals. Your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home, with a hybrid working policy allowing for a mix of office and home working alongside site visits and meetings at other National Trust locations. Expect to be on-site for 40–60% of your working week.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Collaborate with colleagues responsible for raising funds, including a variety of consultants and management teams.
  • Share your knowledge and expertise, supporting others to develop their fundraising skills.
  • Help some of the Trust’s best-loved places to meet ambitious fundraising targets through various initiatives.
  • Develop relationships with new trusts, foundations, and high-value supporters, effectively communicating the Trust’s mission.
  • Embed yourself in project teams, collaborating with specialists from across the Trust.
  • Expand philanthropic giving and support new fundraising initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Experienced in developing complex fundraising plans with multiple income streams for projects with ambitious targets.
  • Proficient in fundraising through individual giving, gifts in wills, and charitable trusts.
  • Adept at building a compelling case for support.
  • Skilled at challenging colleagues to think innovatively about fundraising.
  • A strong communicator capable of building relationships within diverse teams.
  • Flexible in thought and a problem-solver with strong negotiation skills.
  • Proactive and organized, with experience managing projects effectively.
