PRISON CUSTODY OFFICER

Overview

As a Prison Custody Officer at HMP Rye Hill, you will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation of prisoners, ensuring a secure and structured environment. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities

• Providing structure and routine for prisoners, helping them engage in work and education programs.
• Ensuring the safety and security of both prisoners and staff.
• Building positive relationships with prisoners to support their rehabilitation.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary for this position is £30,027.29 per annum (£14.44 per hour), with incremental pay rises available:

• Year 1: £30,027.29
• Year 2: £32,025.97 (£15.40 per hour)

Shifts and Schedule

This role involves various shifts, including weekends, evenings, and nights, with a commitment to provide at least 30 days' notice for any changes.

Training and Development

Your initial training will last a minimum of 10 weeks, providing you with essential skills such as:

• Control & Restraint
• First Aid
• Interpersonal Skills
• Health & Safety

On successful completion, you will also receive a Level 3 custodial management qualification.
