About the Team
The Transport Planning Group identifies, develops, and delivers transport schemes to meet the objectives of the County Council’s Local Transport Plan. The County Council has an enviable record of securing funding and delivering major transport improvements across all modes of travel. Recent projects include new rail stations and major new or improved roads and cycle infrastructure.
Transport modelling is central to Warwickshire County Council's work and success, and you will be joining an authority that is leading the way in utilising the latest modelling techniques.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be rewarded with a varied and challenging workload. Your primary role will be to analyze and respond to Transport Assessments for major developments. You will also play a leading role in preparing the County Council’s Strategic Transport Assessments, which inform the spatial planning proposals of Warwickshire’s five District/Borough Councils.
Through this work, you will identify, design, and develop multi-modal solutions to transport challenges. Additionally, you can expect to lead the development and help implement a transport strategy for a specific area of the County and to project manage individual transport schemes from inception to delivery.
Key Requirements
To be successful in this role you will need:
- To be motivated, creative and have good organisational skills.
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills to evaluate and interpret transport data and modelling outputs.
- Skills to develop a detailed understanding of transport problems and to identify, explore and develop solutions.
- Advanced Excel skills to analyze and manipulate complex data.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, used to providing technical information to varied audiences.
- To be educated to degree level (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in transport planning and specifically transport modelling is desirable, but not essential as on-the-job training will be given.
The successful applicant will be appointed at Engineering Level 4. This post is advertised on a full-time basis, but applications from candidates seeking flexible or part-time working arrangements will be considered.
