Retention Midwife

Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic midwife who has a passion for teaching and supporting internationally educated midwives, returned to practice midwives, and midwives, to join Barts Health NHS Trust's team as the retention lead for internationally educated midwife and deputy practice development midwife. The successful candidate will be part of the education team and work closely with the other team members and ward managers to provide both pastoral support and alongside support to internally educated midwives and return to practice midwives in the clinical areas.

Role Overview

The role has a 70% clinical element and so must be visible in the clinical areas. The successful candidate will work as part of the education team to facilitate learning for all maternity staff, including facilitating mandatory training. The post holder will deliver high quality clinical skills training to overseas midwives in preparation for their OSCE as part of their Test of Competence (ToC).

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate the linking of theory to practice.
• Provide supportive, responsive training and development for internationally educated midwives.
• Work closely with the Consultant Midwife for Education to plan the schedule and content of the program.
• Coordinate educational activities and assessments of learning within the specialty.
• Support newly qualified midwives during preceptorship.
• Assist in the recruitment process of midwives and maternity care assistants.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• Experience in teaching and supporting midwives.
• Knowledge of clinical skills training and assessment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Salary and Benefits
