Overview

As a Security Officer, your primary role will be to prevent and deter criminal acts by providing a high visibility presence around the sites. You will respond to and protect staff, patients, and visitors from acts of violence and abuse while ensuring the safety and security of Trust property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Security Supervisors to gather information regarding incidents, including criminal cases, and assist in ensuring they are progressed appropriately.
  • Attend Court when required for security incidents.
  • Investigate and report security incidents in accordance with Trust Policy & Security Department procedures.
  • Deal sensitively and empathetically with staff, visitors, and patients who present with complex issues resulting from crime.
  • Maintain strict adherence to the Directorate dress code and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data protection is maintained with security information and evidence.
  • Maintain regular radio communication with Security colleagues while on mobile patrol.
  • Keep detailed, accurate, and timely records on all incidents and activities using computer-based systems.
  • Follow Trust, Directorate, and Departmental policies regarding annual leave and sickness reporting.
  • Assist with the production of ID badges and issue keys to staff, ensuring key logs are maintained.
  • Act at all times to strengthen the professional status of Security Services within the Trust.
  • Respond to security incidents and preserve and collect evidence at the scene.
  • Be trained in physical intervention and apply it only if necessary, reasonable, and proportionate.
  • Maintain regular site patrols and remain standing for long periods as required.
  • Keep security offices clean and tidy for health and safety reasons.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Ability to respond to emergency calls in a timely manner ensuring a fast response.
  • Experience in a similar security role is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Understanding of data protection regulations and confidentiality obligations.
