SUPPORT WORKER Residential Children's home - Gillingham, Kent IMMEDIATE START

Must have DBS on the updated service.

Must be able to drive.

This post is to provide support, assistance, and guidance to young people at the age of 13 and 17 living in a residential environment.

People with EBD & trauma experience are preferred but not essential as full training is given.

Must be able to cover days, evenings, nights and sleeps.

Must have NVQ level 3 in child social care.

Main duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure the unit fulfils the requirements of its Statements of Purpose and function and Policies and procedures.
  • To take responsibility for the Health and Safety of the young people and the building.
  • To maintain a high standard of care, supporting and promoting independence for the young people and ensuring young people are always safeguarded.
  • To be conversant with current and relevant legislation.
  • To plan the admission and discharge of young people ensuring that they feel welcomed on admission and that they are prepared for discharge.
  • To ensure the needs of each individual young person are met.
  • To offer the support and encouragement necessary for the child/young person to develop emotionally and physically.
  • To contribute and monitor records regarding the individual young person and to ensure confidentiality in record keeping and discussions concerning young people.
  • To ensure that young people are aware of all the procedures relating to complaints and concerns and how to activate them.
  • To work in partnerships with the allocated social workers ensuring they are fully informed of all relevant information.
  • To promote individual planned care and activities for each young person to ensure their comfort and welfare and to promote their skills and independence.
  • To promote participation of the young person in the planning of their care and their living environment leading young people’s meetings as required.
  • To liaise with external agencies as necessary in relation to the needs of individual young people (e.g schools, hospitals, clubs) ensuring their health educational and developmental needs are addressed.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
