Trainee Clinical Coder

Overview

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust have exciting opportunities for Clinical Coders to support the Trust in providing reliable and accurate clinically coded data for all inpatient and outpatient activity.

Responsibilities

• Extract relevant information from case notes/source documents to enable coding of clinical activity.
• Critically analyse the data from all available sources relevant to the episode of care.
• Investigate and interpret the information to determine the appropriate coding translation.
• Use ICD10 (diagnostic codes) and OPCS4 (procedure codes) for coding.
• Ensure the data can be tabulated, aggregated, and sorted for statistical analysis.

Education and Experience Requirements

You must be educated to A level standard or equivalent relevant passes. It is desirable that the successful applicant will have previous NHS experience and a basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from £24,071 to £25,674 a year, commensurate with experience.
