Transport Coordinator

Overview

As a Transport Coordinator, you will play a vital role in the efficient management of Shorts Group Ltd's Waste Services operations. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing daily work schedules for Waste Services vehicles and communicating effectively with drivers and loaders to accommodate additional customer orders.
• Managing the performance of drivers to ensure compliance with safety and operational policies.
• Ensuring that all vehicles attend scheduled service intervals and MOTs, and managing contingency processes for absences and breakdowns.
• Maintaining and improving K.P.I objectives, including weekly reporting to the Transport Manager.
• Managing holiday schedules and timekeeping for all drivers.
• Identifying and rectifying any missed collections while managing customer expectations.
• Handling internal and external communications courteously and efficiently, resolving customer complaints and escalating to the Transport Manager as necessary.

Person Specification:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with logistics and transport planning.
• A high level of accuracy is essential, with accountability for results and long-term business objectives.
• Strong team player who works well under own initiative.
• Strong business acumen and customer service experience.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Experience in data extraction and reporting.
• Proficient in MS Software, vehicle tracking systems, and Waste Management software such as Weighsoft.
• Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective negotiation skills and the capability to manage relationships.
• Knowledge of the Waste Industry is an advantage but not essential.
