Overview

To support outpatient, inpatient, day case and emergency activity by the timely preparation of the provision of a patient/customer focused reception service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately updating and addressing health records on patient admin systems for all wards and departments.
  • Supporting the administrative process of accessing outpatient referrals and liaising with service users to organize appointments in line with the Patient Access Policy and associated standard operating procedures.
  • Communicating with service users in a sympathetic and empathetic manner using tact and diplomacy both in person and over the telephone.
  • Understanding potential barriers to communication, such as language difficulties and disabilities, and modifying communication styles appropriately.
  • Communicating effectively with all staff and external agencies, maintaining a professional manner at all times.
  • Working harmoniously with other team members in the Directorate, displaying a 'one team' ethic.
  • Escalating service issues or concerns raised by service users to senior staff.
